On December 31, 2021, a new Decree was approved which provides for new rules for the containment of the Covid-19 virus, as well as providing for the extension of the Super Green Pass starting from from January 10th until the end of the State of Emergency (currently expiring on March 31, 2022) .

UPDATE: Starting from April 1st 2022 it will no longer be necessary to verify the covid green certification for guests of accommodation facilities, read articles 6 and 7 of the decree here for more information.

Let's see together what the law provides.

The text, which can also be consulted in the Official Journal at the following link , indicates in Art. 1 :

From 10 January 2022 until the end of the COVID-19 epidemiological emergency, access to the following services and activities is permitted exclusively to those in possession of the COVID-19 green certifications , pursuant to Article 9, paragraph 2, letters a), b) and c-bis), of Legislative Decree no. 52 of 2021, as well as to those referred to in Article 9-bis, paragraph 3, first period, of Legislative Decree no. 52 of 2021:
  • a) hotels and other accommodation facilities referred to in Article 9-bis, paragraph 1, letter a-bis), of Legislative Decree no. 52 of 2021, as well as catering services provided within them even if reserved for customers staying there.

Since the Decree refers to hotels and other accommodation facilities in general, let's clarify the exact definition of accommodation facility:

The tourist accommodation facilities regulated by this law are divided into:

a) hotel accommodation facilities;
a bis) hotel cond;
b) bed and breakfast;
c) furnished housing units for tourist use;
d) bed and breakfast;
e) open-air accommodation facilities;
f) social accommodation facilities;
g) Alpine refuges, hiking refuges and bivouacs.

The accommodation facilities governed by this title must comply with the urban planning, building, health and hygiene regulations and the safety standards for the facilities provided for by the relevant regulations.
